Height: 22 inches
Diameter: 16 inches
American, circa 1906

An original Tiffany lamp, comprising a dome-shaped leaded glass shade in the rare early Bell Flower pattern, the background of rich Kelly green mottled Tiffany glass with decoration of dangling bell flowers articulated in “granite” glass in shades of red and orange streaked with green. The upper register of the shade features a stylized acanthus motif in the same granite tones of red and orange.

The shade rests on an original bronze Decorated Cushion Table Base, with applied wires descending from them stem into curlicues which rest on a stylized pleated “pillow,” in a rich brown patina. This Tiffany lamp features an original reticulated metal heat cap in matching finish.

Although widely referred to as the “Bell Flower," this model number for this leaded glass shade is listed in the 1906 Tiffany Studios Catalogue as “16-INCH POPPY, CONVENTIONAL DOME."

A leaded glass sample panel for this design is in the permanent collection of the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park, Florida.
