American, circa 1902-04
Diameter: 28 inches (71.12 cm)

An early original Hanging 'Daffodil' Shade by Tiffany Studios, possibly designed by Clara Driscoll, featuring an all-over design depicting bright yellow daffodils rising from variegated green stems against a background of richly mottled glass which ranges from deep green near the lower edge to a creamy yellow near the crown.

The Daffodil was one of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s favorite flowers, and the iconic yellow blossoms appeared not only in a series of popular leaded glass Tiffany lamp shades, but also adorned the famous “Daffodil Terrace” at Laurelton Hall, Tiffany’s palatial Long Island estate.
