Rare Wild Rose Table Lamp

Tiffany Studios Rare Wild Rose Table Lamp 1
Tiffany Studios Rare Wild Rose Table Lamp 1
Diameter: 16 inches
American, circa 1902-04

This rare original Tiffany Lamp features an early Wild Rose shade, likely an early design by Clara Driscoll which is notable for its use of exceptional Tiffany Glass.

The entirety of this unusual leaded glass shade is encircled by a dense motif of bright yellow wild roses in various stages of development, each articulated in carefully selected mottled Tiffany Glass marked by varying levels of opacity. These vivid flowers with their bright green streaky glass leaves are accented by the clear deep blue background.

The shade is paired with an original Tiffany bronze lamp base with an inset horizontal row of Tiffany Glass “Turtle Back” Tiles in an iridescent yellow glass which corresponds to the yellow flowers in the shade.

Both the shade and the base are signed.

The only other known example of an original Tiffany Lamp featuring a yellow "Wild Rose" shade is in the permanent collection of the New-York Historical Society (accession no. N84.58.1).
