This original Tiffany Studios Floor Lamp pairs an exceptional Tiffany Favrile Glass shade with a footed bronze “Balance Weight” Base that allows both the height and angle of the shade to be adjusted.
The thick glass shade is formed by richly saturated green glass accented by Tiffany’s famed surface iridescence. The shade features finely striated scalloped decoration in addition to a scrolling frieze along the lower edge in iridescent gold glass; hand-drawn illustrations in the notebooks of Leslie Nash, who served as Production Manager at Louis Comfort Tiffany’s glass furnaces for several decades, indicate that this particular decoration was referred to as “Etruscan.” The interior of the shade was cased in a thin layer of reflective white glass, offering brighter light when the shade is illuminated.
Both the shade and base of this authentic Tiffany lamp are signed.
