This Decorated Cabinet Vase is an excellent example of Tiffany Favrile Glass produced in the final years of the 1890s, a period during which Louis Comfort Tiffany’s glassblowers had perfected their trademark iridescence and the decorative motifs which would earn Tiffany glass lasting fame in the 20th century.
This footed baluster form Cabinet Vase with tapered neck is formed by buttery yellow glass characterized by shimmering gold surface iridescence, decorated with two horizontal bands of thin pulled and hooked striated motifs in burgundy glass. Rising from the shoulder and stretching up to the rim, the upper band of decoration is accented by subtle hints of a deep purple coloration where it separates the golden background from the creamy white glass which forms the neck and rim.
This rare early example of authentic Tiffany Favrile Glass is inscribed on the underside with signature and date code.
