This fine piece of gold iridescent Tiffany Glass was included in Tiffany Studios’ display at the Panama–Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco in 1915.
The body of the baluster-form vase is formed by opaque gold iridescent Tiffany Glass, a trademark color and finish pioneered by Tiffany Studios. The vase is decorated with an all-over motif of swirling vines and heart-shaped leaves, the leaves articulated in soft green glass. This decoration has been wheel-carved to give the leaves and vines a naturalistic appearance, including subtle faceted veins and curled edges on the leaves as well as the appearance of thorns and gnarled wood on the vines.
This original example of Tiffany Favrile Glass is inscribed on the underside with date code and a notation for the Panama Pacific Exposition.
